Okay, let us just start off by saying that we love PB2. It is one of our favorite discoveries and while we were skeptical at first, we can’t picture life without it. Seriously, we should buy stock in the company that makes it (Bell Plantation) because we could make ourselves rich on it (side note – we don’t know how the stock market works). We’ve even gone so far as to buy larger bottles of it on Amazon because we use it so much. It may not seem like much, but PB2 is a vegan and non-vegan’s best friend!
Let’s start off by talking about why PB2 is needed. Regular peanut butter has a bunch of extra ingredients. Most importantly added sugar but also other things like preservatives, oil and salt are also pretty common. Trust us, these are not wanted or needed! Whenever I have peanut butter from the jar now it almost feels gritty with sugar. Not the most pleasant thing for sure.
PB2 and other powdered peanut butter products get rid of this issue. You get rid of the sugar, salt, and oil and exchange them with good ol’ water. The final product is a rich, creamy, super flavorful, peanut butter-y blissful bite. You can make as much as you need and have a guilt-free snack.
Not only is it delicious, but it is also versatile. You can use it in any recipe that calls for peanut butter. Just play around with the proportions to get the taste and texture you want. This can be a sauce, oatmeal, or anything! The first time we made spicy peanut sauce with PB2 we felt like we had broken a law of physics by making a healthy yet super delicious version of our favorite sauce. We also often add it to oatmeal as a nice protein boost and flavor without a ton of extra calories.
Other tried and true uses that we love are for camping and traveling. When camping, PB2 is great in a small bag for hiking. No mess, no oil stains, no peanut goo dripping everywhere but instead, a clean easy good boost of protein. Best of all, it’s easy to carry. You can also mix it in with your morning breakfast for a great treat to get you ready for the day.
Have to spend a long time at the airport or bus station? Just mix some PB2 in a bag with some oats and dried fruit. Ask for some hot water and a cup from a coffee shop and BAM, you have a cheap, easy and healthy meal! Last time we traveled we packed oatmeal pouches for the first and last days and we were able to eat for a whopping 50 cents at an airport. They did charge us for a cup on the way home but 50 cents is a whole lot cheaper than say 10 dollars for a dry bagel because they don’t have vegan cream cheese. If you’re more patient than we are and can wait to eat on the plane it would be free when they give you your complimentary drink… we were too hungry for that though…
As we said, we were a bit skeptical at first because we love peanut butter. Once we tried it we realized that it really was a great alternative with no downside. The moral of the story is – try PB2. And then invest in it like we’re going to and make a million dollars. Yes, it’s THAT good!
